Q&A – Follow up on Ghusl

A brother asked the follow up question :

salaam

1. If a person were to take a shower and make the niyah for ghusl, would it be sufficient. In other words, is a shower sufficient as ghusl?

2. if it is, and once the shower is done, does the person then have wudhu? Can they make salaah, touch the mushaf etc? or do they need to make wudhu in the shower as well?

 

Answer:

 

The answer to your question is as follows:
1. According to Imaam Shafi (RA) the 2 Faraaidh of ghusl are niyyah and to ensure that the whole body gets washed, so by taking a shower if your whole boby including the roots of the hair gets washed, then ghusl is complete.

2. Like we have mentioned with regards to ghusl,niyyah is also compulsory for wudhu. In addition Imaam Shafi(RA)also stipulates tarteeb(sequence), so if the shower did include a seperate niyyah for wudhu aswell as the tarteeb, then wudhu is not made.

 

 

Q&A – Ihram, Umrah and Menses

A brother asked the following question:

will a women need to put on her ihraam when she intends to make umrah if she
is experiencing her menses?
if she does have to put on her ihram what will she have to do after entering
makkah? will she have to stay in the state of ihram untill her menses
finishes?

 

The answer given is as follows:

Part A: will a women need to put on her ihraam when she intends to make umrah if she is experiencing her menses?

Yes

If she does have to put on her ihram what will she have to do after entering makkah?

She remains in ihram until her menses ends.  Accordingly she may not enter the al Masjidul Haraam until that point.  After the menses ends, she will make ghusl and thereafter perform  umrah

Will she have to stay in the state of ihram untill her menses finishes?

Q&A – Fardh Ghusl

How many Faraaidh ( Plural of Fardh) are there in Ghusl, and what are they?

 

Answer

 

According to Imaam Shaafi, there are only 2 faraaidh in ghusl:

1. Niyyah (Intention)

2. To wash the whole body –To ensure that every hair on the body is wet. This will complete fardh ghusl.


Q&A – NonMuslims in the Masjid

A brother asked the question:

I have a non-Muslim friend that I want to introduce to Islam. Is it permissible to bring him to the Masjid, and have him sit at the back and observe the Salaah?

Response:

Respected Brother

With regard to question about bringing a non muslim to the masjid, it is permissible to bring him keeping in mind he is clean from all major impurities.

Q&A – Orphanage

Are there any muslim orphanages in the Maraisburg / Florida area where we can make donations of clothing etc?
Response:

There is an orphanage behind the Maraisburg Masjid (South of the Masjid). We are not certain if the orphanage is accepting donation of clothing at this time. The brothers / sisters should enquire with the orphanage itself.

We also notice that there are a number of underprivileged children that hang around the top part of Newclare that would perhaps appreciate donations of clothing.
